A. STRUCTURE: We discussed how giving the client specific pre-prepared questions to answer in written, in combination with telephone coaching sessions, can improve the structure of the program. Suggested benefits of this action were: It can add structure, enhance self-awareness, help the coach not fall into a rut, act as a prompt and save time.
B. COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY:
-Factors that influence coaches´ choice of a medium: time, familiarity with the medium, effectiveness, typing speed, type of issue to deal with, internet connection speed, coachee´s understanding of the issue, value of having a record of interactions.
-How can we make best use of media to empower coaches to use their skills effectively?

C. E-COACHING RELATIONSHIP:
-We considered factors that might influence the quality of the e-coaching relationship, such as client motivation, skills of the coach, frequency of interaction, clarity of goals and expectations, user-friendly media. In considering how to improve quality, risks such as, miscommunication and failing to recognize undertones might need to be taken into account.

– What can be learned from other e-relationships to improve e-coaching rapport building.
Language (verbal or written) allows us to read undertones and emotions. However the e-dialogue needs to be descriptive and clear to minimize misinterpretation.

-How the medium we use affects e-coaching relationship development: Visual and auditory communication shape behaviour and affect rapport development in different ways. Perhaps, we present different personaes when using different media.

D.INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES:
-Sensory preferences: e.g. a visual coach using telephone as a medium for coaching.
Asking for “audio visuals”
How much additional attention when using our less developed receptors?

-Learning preferences of coach/coachee and how these influence the choice for face to face/ telephone/ text-based coaching?

-Emotional intelligence and personality types in relation to e-coaching outcomes?

E. CULTURAL DIFFERENCES: How might culture influence e-coaching needs and expectations?
